About Me
I’m Monish Malla, a junior at Metea Valley High School in Aurora, IL, passionate about Artificial Intelligence and technology. I excel academically while engaging in various tech projects, including developing chatbots, machine learning models, and image classifiers.
I hold certifications in Ethical Hacking, Deep Learning, and AI Fundamentals. My participation in hackathons and programs like J.P. Morgan Chase’s Generation Tech and Stanford’s AI program has enriched my skills and knowledge.
Beyond tech, I’m involved in clubs and volunteer work, tutoring peers in Math and English, and contributing to community service through Key Club and Tech4ED. I also enjoy music and cultural activities, participating in the Tri-M Music Honor Society and managing social media for the Korean Club.

My Projects

Mental Health Ai chatbot
I built a mental health AI chatbot using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and the OpenAI API key to assist with mental health-related questions and problems.

Research Oasis
I built a Research Oasis using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to help find research papers easily, utilizing online data to access the research papers.

Tower Defense Game
I built a tower defense game using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Java, designing my own images and all game elements to protect the tower from asteroids.

Mapt(Collage App)
I worked on the MAPT app with the team to incorporate a summer activities list for students and improve the app by reporting bugs and other issues.

To-do List app
I learned Swift iOS app development and built a to-do list app, which I tested on my phone. I learned iOS app development through DPI in two weeks and was able to make this app, adding a moving RGB background and other cool features.

Flower detection tool
I made a flower detection model that can name flowers using Jupyter Notebook and Python. I built this using the IRIS dataset to gather information and implemented machine learning techniques.
My Extracurricular Activities
I participated in an AP Computer Science A review and other coding-related activities within this club.
I tutored students in English and social studies after school in the library.
I participated in planning various Indian cultural activities such as Diwali and Holi, and organized festive parties with my team.
I participated in the Asian American Club, where we engaged in activities like cooking, origami, calligraphy, tai chi, and more, creating a fun environment to learn about different cultures.
I learned the fundamentals of cybersecurity through an online program in collaboration with my school.
As a member of the National English Honor Society, I have visited various schools to assist with their programs and conducted book drives at my school.
I served as an attorney in the club, defending the Wilson vs. Smith robbery case at a store on 34 West Drive.
I have a passion for badminton and have yet to compete in competitions this year.
I volunteered at different schools, assisted in music festivals around my school, and played the violin.

I participated in GenerationTech, a global program under JPMorgan Chase's Tech for Social Good, where youth aged 14-18 design tech solutions addressing United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
I participated in the MCF AI Bootcamp Program, a 3-week intensive introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, where I learned from industry experts, connected with peers, and explored the ethical implications and real-world applications of AI.
At CSYA Hacks, an online hackathon, I developed a Mental Health AI chatbot while creating innovative projects, connecting with peers, and enjoying the experience.
At the SAIL program conducted by UIUC, I visited the campus, explored different computer science majors, and participated in various coding activities.
I received an honorable mention at the Youth AI Lab Winter Hackathon for creating one of the best projects in the competition.
At HSHacks, a high school hackathon, I created Research Oasis, a website that helps people easily find research papers, while building epic projects, making new friends, and having an awesome time.
I participated in a virtual Aerospace Camp hosted by UIUC, where I learned the fundamentals of aerospace, built projects at home, and explored job opportunities in the field.
At Codingal, I learned how to build an AI app using no-code software.
At Hack for the World, a high school hackathon, I created a tower defense game, while building innovative projects, making new friends, and having an incredible time.
At the University of Texas at Dallas, I attended a research camp where I learned about the fundamentals of research and various research topics. At the end of the camp, I presented a project on AI detection of plants using machine learning, incorporating the IRIS dataset.
At DPI, I learned Swift programming over 2 weeks and built my own to-do list app. Subsequently, I attended a data science program at DPI in partnership with UIUC.
